Please excuse our lack of updates, the post production-process is requiring a lot of time and besides that, Fabian and myself are working both in our daytime jobs. Sacha Robert came by for a visit in Lucerne yesterday that we could shoot the missing interview and talk about times past and have a few good laughs (the term “Visp” just got redefined). And just to let you know, there’s still some stuff to come before the premiere on May 29th 2010 so stay tuned!

Winter’s traditionally a big deal in Switzerland. Wintersport’s a broad activity, as long as you’re not annoyed with injuries. In June 2009 Fabian ripped his cruciate ligament (ionatefilms.com reported) while spotting trails for the new film. After his doctor took a look at the thing, he concluded that he had to go into surgery. That was a few months ago. This morning he had an appiontment with his surgeon and by noon the first text messages came in, occupied with the afterflash of the general anaesthesia. Ok, actually the messages were totally normal, but hey! Whatever, Fabian’s doing pretty good and he even sent some impressions from the Hospital. Apparently, the lucky guy got around a catheter…

After some many requests have reached us asking when the first clips of the new film will be finally published, we decided to do something against this drawback: At least so far as we as can (and want…) at this moment. But see for yourself: youtube.com

If you look out of the window here in central Switzerland these days, things are quite clear. It’s winter, no doubt. Not to long ago though, things looked a bit different, while shooting in Valais near Visp - where else? - with Vinzenz Guntern. With hindsight we pokered pretty well by choosing that specific Saturday, then the day after there was 10cm of snow. But first things first. It’s a matter of common knowledge that the Valais is a biker’s paradise beyond comparison. And even though we’ve been here many times and shot a lot of things here, something new and cool always remains. Vinz chose a trail above Gampel from which the view reaches up to Goms in the east and down the Rhone valley in the west. That fact that Vinz spend the week before in bed because of fever was of interest for him and fullfilled all our wishes in front of the camera. Sacha Robert, who happens to live right around the corner, payed us a visit along with his Girlfriend Andrea and delighted the set with hot tea and focaccia. Things like these only happen there. After that it got a bit hectic because the sun was running away from us and the wheather forecast for the next day wasn’t very promising. So we were very happy, that we got everything we needed in just one day, since everything turned white on Sunday morning.
A few days ago Vinz called and said that his hand, which he broke quite some time ago, didn’t heal properly. Although everything stays put, due to the screws, but the bones didn’t grow back together. This results in Vinz going into surgery again and being forced to relinquish from his planned winter- i.e. summer-stay on the sounthern hemisphere in Australia. Get well soon Vinz!

Winter, anyone?

Hey, come on. It was cold!

As we said: It's just nice there.

Hey, can we finally leave?

While Winter is taking over in our lines of lattitude, there are still a bunch of places, where biking is possible without compromises. In a sense. A few weeks ago we met Marco Bugnone in Sanremo at the ligurian Coast of Italy. Romi introduced us with Marco and since we wanted to do something in Italy again, it was obvious that we teamed up with a genuine Italian to capture a nice part. During our stay we lived in the house of Roberto Vernassa, team chief of the Argentina Bike Gravity Team. And since we’ve been to Sanremo together with Schwalbe this spring, we knew that we wanted to do something with an Ape, so Roberto pulled some strings and bam! We had an Ape to transport our crew and equipment at our disposal for the entire three days. Or so. We filmed in and around San Romolo, which is above Sanremo, and after it started to rain (no matter where we are, probability of precipitation is always at 90%) we went to San Bartolomeo, where we were able to attend some of Marcos most advanced cursing arts, as a bunch of hunters weren’t very happy about our presence and the fact, that we were shooting a bike film in “their” hunting grounds. Filming with Marco was very funny as well as some few difficulties in language and comprehension. As the one part of us returned home to get back to work, Fabian and his girlfriend went to Corsica straight away to take well-deserved two-week-holiday. The two weeks are over and there’s still a lot to do. So long & caccole avanti!
Grazie Paula, Gianluca e Roberto!
